1. What this is

News & Ideas is a free publication. It has two parts: the site at newsideas.app, and a daily email. Each issue is four science stories and three ideas, with the sources written out. An issue may also carry a Watch link. There is no fee, no paid tier, and no account beyond the email address you confirm.

Reading the site does not create a contract for professional services. Subscribing is a request to receive the email, completed when you confirm. You can stop at any time by unsubscribing. The privacy page says what we store.

2. Acceptable use

Use the site and the form for yourself. Do not submit an address that is not yours, unless you are that person's parent and the privacy page would still allow it, which it does not for anyone under 16. Do not send the form in bulk, probe it, or try to break the rate limit. Do not interfere with the site for other readers.

You may quote a short passage and link to the issue. You may not republish an issue as your own letter, and you may not present the mark as yours.

3. The email

We send a confirmation message first. The digest starts after you open that link. The link expires after 48 hours. Each later email has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deletes the subscriber record, as the privacy page describes.

We choose the send time, the length, and whether an issue goes out. Signup can be closed. The email is the same letter as the issue page for that day. Delivery depends on your mail provider. We do not promise that a message will reach the inbox.

4. Quizzes

A quiz in the email is optional. A single-choice poll counts the first choice from a subscriber and ignores a later click. A multi-choice poll accepts more than one option until Done, or until each option has been chosen. The result is a percentage of the choices counted. It can name which sentence came from a source. There is no prize, no ranking of readers, and no effect on whether you receive the letter.

5. Invites

A confirmed subscriber receives one invite link. A new reader who uses it still goes through the same double opt-in. We add one to the referrer's count only after that confirmation, and only once. We do not count a signup whose email hash matches the referrer. That is a self-referral, and it is not allowed.

Do not create fake signups, buy addresses, or invite people who did not ask to hear from us. We may remove a credit, ignore a code, or close invites, when a pattern looks like abuse. The count is a number in the email and on a status page. It has no cash value, no discount, and no prize. A line at one, three, and five referrals is a sentence in the footer, nothing else.

6. Intellectual property and other sites

The text of the letters, the mark, and the layout of this site belong to MaGa Srl or to the people who licensed them to us. Sources stay with their authors and publishers. Image credits are on the issue. A link is not an endorsement of the whole site it points to, and it is not a claim that we control that site.

A Watch link leaves this site. Where that link opens YouTube, YouTube's terms apply there. If a source page changes or disappears, the issue can be left with the link we had on the day we wrote it.

7. The letter is informational

The issues are for general reading. They are not medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. A summary can leave out a method, a caveat, or a later correction. The primary source, where we have one, is the place to check the claim. We correct a factual error on the issue page when we learn of it.

8. Liability

The site and the email are free and are provided as they are. To the extent Italian law allows, we are not liable for loss that comes from relying on an issue, from a third-party site, from YouTube, or from a message that does not arrive.

Nothing on this page limits liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that the law does not let us limit. If you are a consumer, nothing here removes rights you cannot waive.

9. Changes

We can update these terms. The date at the top changes with the text. The new terms apply to the site from that date, and to the email from the next message. The consent for the newsletter is separate. You can withdraw it at any time, including after a change you do not want.

10. Law and disputes

Italian law governs these terms. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you keep the mandatory protections of the country where you live. You may bring a claim in the courts of the place where you live, including, for a consumer in Italy, under article 66-bis of the Consumer Code. We do not require you to sue in a court that the law does not allow us to choose for you.
